2024 In Review

Thank you for your support throughout 2024. We've decided to take a look at some of the highlights the year has brought us at the museum.

As we draw to the end of another exciting year at the museum, we thought we’d look back at just a few of the key events that have made 2024 so special for us.

New Galleries

In 2024, we were excited to open new exhibitions and galleries at the museum. In May, our new Research Room was opened. The room offers a range of texts on Horsham District alongside a calm environment to read them in.

In June, we also opened our temporary Rationalisation Gallery. As we prepare our own rationalisation project at the museum, we hope the gallery provides useful insight into what rationalisation means for museums and how the process is carried out.

On the 20th of December, we will welcome two new galleries on the museum’s ground floor. These galleries will explore the impact of the rapid industrialisation and political reform of the 18th and 19th centuries on Horsham District.

Collyer’s Pop-Up Shop

In May, we were delighted to open our pop-up shop in collaboration with students at Collyer’s College. Students studying the BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design were invited to visit the museum and create designs for merchandise inspired by the museum’s collections. This resulted in some brilliant, creative designs on tote bags, cards and prints. We hope to repeat this success in 2025 with further opportunities to involve young people in the museum and showcase their talents.

Live Music

2024 saw the return of our popular Museum Late events. Visitors to the museum this summer were treated to live music by Steel Tribe, Soph and Simon, Choro Bandido and HotPot. The talent of the featured musicians, the warm summer weather and our lovely garden (courtesy of our wonderful garden volunteer team) all helped create a great atmosphere for attendees.

We’re looking forward to recreating this buzz with our approaching Christmas Late on the 20th of December. The upcoming late will feature festive carols performed by the Horsham Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society with refreshments available for purchase. Attendees will also be free to explore our galleries and exhibitions, including the new 18th and 19th century galleries due to open that day.

Thank You

Many thanks to everyone who has supported us this year - we look forward to seeing you again in 2025.
