Dion Salvador: Between Earth and Sky

Oil painting of a stormy landscape

From Saturday 24 September a new exhibition, Dion Salvador Lloyd – Between Earth and Sky, will be on display at Horsham Museum & Art Gallery.

Dion’s landscape works capture the atmosphere and emotions of the world around us; representations of places experienced through many eyes and the perpetual movement of time.  He describes his studio as “a space full of light and birdsong, looking out onto countryside near Lewes’.  Although many of his works are not attributed to a specific place, there is a familiarity to his paintings which are born out of the Sussex landscape.

Dion was a student at Horsham’s Christ’s Hospital during his formative years and spent his early adult life working in London hotels.  Following a fire in his flat where he lost all his possessions, he took the time to travel and find a new path.  Moved by the natural world and identifying a unique connection to it, Dion realised that he could translate his experiences of landscapes into dynamic and energetic works of art.

The exhibition at Horsham Museum invites you to experience both the power and subtlety of nature, from frenetic seascapes and sweeping landscapes to fragile plant life. Entrance to Horsham Museum & Art Gallery and Dion Salvador Lloyd – Between Earth and Sky are free and the exhibition will continue until Saturday 20 November 2022.
