Horsham Museum Needs You!

Two volunteers standing by the museum reception

The Museum and Art Gallery is lucky to have so many dedicated volunteers who support the work we do. Not only were they instrumental in the recent refresh of the museum but work hard to support the operation on a daily basis as well. We are currently looking for more Welcome Desk and Family Activity Volunteers. Do you have what it takes to join the team?

Our welcome volunteers are a recent addition to the museum and are a growing team of friendly people who greet visitors at the museum entrance, dealing with enquiries, explaining elements within the museum as well as stocking the shop merchandise and selling items to our visitors. As many will testify, no two days are the same in the museum reception, and it’s a great place to share ideas and learn something new each time they volunteer.

Recently, the museum has increased opening, including right through bank holiday weekends. With plans to develop a program of family activity events on weekends and school holidays, the latest role the museum is looking for new recruits for is that of Family Activity Volunteer; whose role will be to engage with families by facilitating our family activity workshops.

Our volunteers come from all sorts of backgrounds, and have a wealth of experience between them, which are often not remotely linked to heritage or museums.  We are always keen to add would be volunteers to our team, and regularly list our vacancies on the Volunteer Horsham website.  While some volunteers attend the Museum regularly each week, others fit it in around their busy family and work schedules, so there is no minimum requirement for hours, other than fitting into our rota. If you are interested, or want to find out more, why not visit our volunteering website here, where you can register, search and apply?
