Wedding Boot

Located in the Costume Gallery

This boot is from about 1880 and is typical of Victorian wedding boots. It is made of white silk and calfskin with 9 pearl button fasteners. The wedding styles at this time were still heavily influenced by the wedding of Queen Victoria in 1840, who famously set the trend for white wedding dress which is still popular today.
