The main aim of the Friends of Horsham Museum & Art Gallery is to raise funds to support Horsham Museum and Art Gallery in updating and preserving the Museum's collections. But we do so much more and you could be a part of it.
Friends' members attend talks, trips and Horsham Museum events organised by the Friends. Many Friends also volunteer at the Museum to catalogue, conserve and provide vital research for Friends' publications.
We also organise and take part in local history and community projects.
The Albery Poster Project
Between August 2011 and September 2014 the Friends successfully completed The William Albery Poster Project supported by a £45,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The project stimulated interest in the local history of Horsham through preserving, recording, researching and using the William Albery poster collection, in community engagement and education.
Friends' volunteers were involved in creating a digital archive and online resources for the collection at www.horshamposters.com. We also delivered over 50 talks and exhibitions to the local area and created two brand new publications. Freelance staff helped in the management and delivery of our goals including providing 50 school outreach workshops and additional teaching resources for the website.
Now the Friends have taken up the challenge to build a watercolour collection of regional importance that reflects the growing significance of Horsham.
